The Prince, by now a seasoned warrior, returns to Babylon from the Island of Time with his love, Kaileena. Instead of coming home to the peace and quiet he had hoped to find, the Prince finds a war-ravaged kingdom that has turned against him. When the Prince is captured, Kaileena must sacrifice herself to once again unleash the Sands of Time and free him. The Prince soon discovers that his misadventures with time have created a twin Dark Prince. Play as both characters throughout this epic adventure, mastering the free-form fighting styles of each. Use all new Sands of Time powers to surprise your enemies and even launch powerful attacks against entire armies!

OK for a game port.
As usual all the Price of Persia Games for the PSP have some sync issues. The sound especially has problems keeping up with the game even in the cut scenes. The view controls are a bit weird but since I've played the previous PoP for PSP I had already gotten use to them. Also if you've played the PC version then you'll find yourself in very familiar territory since most all of the levels are 1 to 1 ports. Overall it is a fun game to play but I would never buy these games since they have 0 replayability.

This is why we rent our games before buying them!
It has graphics but lousy game play. It's east to get stuck in this game and the fighting is redundant. The camera angles make it confusing and difficult to maneuver. It will hold your attention for about 5 minutes and then you'll want to ditch it.

Much Improved
I trashed the first PSP PoP game, b/c it seemed to have some really game play flaws. But, I have to admit this new version is much better. Yeah, I'm late to the game reviewing this, but that's b/c I hated the first version so much. I have to admit that the glitches mentioned here do indeed exist. Choppy frame rate, out of sync audio, and even stuck position w/in walls - requiring restart. But the mix of puzzles and fighting, blend nicely with the storyline. Not to mention this is a long game. It has many many levels and things get more challenging as you go. I didn't have as many problems with the viewing angles and cameras as others. I also appreciate the control layout (as is my constant gripe). With the relatively slim slate of new games for PSP in the coming months, you might seriously want to give this one a try.

BUY IT, RENT IT, BURN IT?
Definite RENT. Can't see any replay-ability for buying.

I played two thrones, and this one is a shadow.
I really enjoyed the mechanics of the game. The visuals were good but the framerate was not smooth.

I really look a game to draw me into the world through aural nuances and backdrops as well and that's where this iteration of the game fell flat on its face. Gone are the beautiful tracks of the xbox version... because the PSP kills the music when accessing the disc!!!

Also factor in that the enemies don't split in half in a cool fashion...and have green blood. I don't know it just seemed that in translating the game they toned it down too much. There are some things that work on the PSP and some that don't, an epic Prince of Persia game doesn't translate well unless you change the scale and scope.
Very Bad
I did not like this game at all. If you make one bad move, you fall down. And if you fall down, even from a low height, you die. I played for 10 minutes and put it back in the mail.

This game was pretty good.
This game has good things, and bad things. First, I'll state the good things.

The gameplay is very good, you can choose from a vast variety of weopons and combos to beat your enemies. Also, the cut scenes where cool, and the story was well made. I also really liked the rewind feature, I very, very helpful factor in all the other prince of persia games.

Now, the bad things

There are many, many glitches in the game. You can be running from one place to the other, and then appear ten feet under where you just were, and not be able to rewind time. Also, if you play for too long, the sound goes away, and the cutscenes have no talking or sound affects. and, you'll be forced to look for cheats, because the puzzles are so hard

Anyway, this game was really good story wise and gameplay wise. It is Very good, glitches aside

How hard can it be...
How hard can it be to make a good game? Even more basic, how hard can it be to prevent the same flaws from being repeated in a game? The answer for Ubisoft, and the folks who worked on Prince of Persia: Rival Swords is 'impossible'. After playing the first PoP on the PSP, I was left thinking 'good for the first time on the PSP'. After playing this latest installment, I was left thinking 'doesn't anyone at Ubisoft read these reviews or other message boards'. Apparently not. Some of the biggest flaws of the first installment (out of sync dialogue, choppy frame rate) were not only NOT corrected, but NEW flaws were included (sound that completely drops out until the disc is restarted, severely broken camera). Isn't learning from mistakes part of the game designers mantra? It should be if it isn't. I was so glad to have rented this game, because I really thought about buying it. The first PoP on the PSP was decent enough for me to consider buying the second one outright, without trying it out first. I mean, I expected them to at least correct the original issues. I'm glad I did not spend $40 on this waste of time. After suffering through about half of the game, I finally got frustrated after I was 'stuck in another wall' for the millionth time and shipped it back to Gamefly. I hope Ubisoft's upcoming releases on the PSP will not suffer the same failures. If they do, I'm certain I will not rent/buy their sequels. PoP: Rival Swords... it's just missing an 'o' there in the middle.
