Etrian Odyssey, the saga that launched the Etrian dungeon-crawler franchise on Nintendo DS, has been reborn with a new story, new characters, and a revamped labyrinth rendered in full 3D. Strange events have been occurring in Etria, and you, a heroic Highlander, have been summoned to solve the mystery. Join a trio of researchers sent to investigate the same puzzling events. Explore the mystical Yggdrasil Labyrinth together, seeking out its secrets and uncovering the answers that lie buried in the mind of a memoryless girl that you meet along the way. Play the Story Mode, then carry over your saved data and experience a modified story in Classic Mode, which gives you the chance to play two games in one.

Good "Old School" type
It is good that the makers of this game allowed you to "auto-make" most of the map on the simulated graph paper. It is also great that you can somewhat take limited notes. The bad: cut scenes have no option for subtitles, and the 3DS volume for them is not that loud unless you are playing in a sensory deprivation chamber. So, use headphones

A very good game!
Etrian Odyssesy, what a series, I really loved the whole making your own map thing. it makes the maps more personal to you and your tastes. The combat is extremely well done, and can suit many different type's of player (Example: defense, offense, specialist). While I do like the story, a little reminder of what your supposed to be doing would be nice, since I did get lost a few times in what I was supposed to be doing, Although I didn't mind a little bit of grinding here and there. The story (NO SPOILERS) is simply wonderful, but I'm not really sure if your choices make a difference in the story or characters (Exept for Rosa). <br />OVERALL Great game, would recommend to everyone who likes a good adventure game.

Make Maps and Discover Things
Atlus' throwback to D & D and Wizardry is even better than ever with this enhanced remake of the first game. As usual it's up to you to make the map, it's not given to you ahead of time, and you're discovering things about the land you travel by exploring dungeons in first person, much like Wizardry but with 3D graphics so it's easier to play. However this time there's a more detailed version of the story with more dialect, plot twists, and you don't have to make your party, it's more story focused so there's pre-made characters who are important to the story, and with voice acting and anime cutscenes it really pans out the plot. However you can play the classic mode where you make your own team and set off on a not so cinematic adventure. I prefer the story so I went with the story mode. Anyway, it plays and feels great, I highly recommend it.

10 hours and counting :)
I've barely scratched the surface of the story mode but I've already noticed plenty of improvements. One of the major ones are map shortcuts that allow you to warp to the stairs once you've completely mapped a floor(or defeated the boss). There is also plenty of voice acting during both exploration and cutscenes. So far I think this is the best in the series, especially considering it's a remake. It feels completely new except for the graphics and some of the monsters coming straight from the last one. The best part is that both newbies and experts should have no trouble finishing it thanks to the easier difficulty settings available.
