Rock out Very loud
When I heard there was a game about guitar playing, I was a bit skeptical. But, once I played it, I was blown away. The flawless of the chords as I "strum" away at the incredibly realistic guitar controller made me feel like I was Hendrix. Using the whammy bar in combination with the star power, I haven't stopped air guitaring since. The library is very extensive. Ranging from Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" to Franz Ferdinand "Take me out". The only downside I can think of is the lack of any AC/DC. How can you make a guitar game without "Thunderstruck".

Honest review from a sceptic gamer of this sort
I've been gaming ever since the days of Atari. but wouldnt consider myself as a huge gamer. I usually dont care for games of this sort either. Im more into military shooters like Socom. Games like Guitar Hero seemed a little immature for my taste. With that being said, i decided to give this game a spin at my local best buy. OMG! it was actually really, really fun to play! Maybe it was my childhood fantasy rock out when i was listening to 80's Hair Bands and 90's punk rock. This game was cool enough i bought the bundle. I got it home and my girlfriend thought i was silly. And yes, maybe i am. But she joined in the fun and played some tunes too. I highly recommend this game for any body 10 yo and up.

However, i would say a few bad things about the game. The selection of music could be better. The kids lately are listening to MTV's TRL. And i saw only 1 or 2 songs on the list that ever made it on trl. So, adding a few songs from Fallout Boy, Panic! at the disco, Greenday, or Good Charlotte, etc.
I love the old school songs myself and there are quite a few in there. Some are big hits and great to play. but some are not quite as good as songs and could be replaced with bigger hits. Maybe more Hendrix, Lenny Kravits. Maybe some smooth out songs like, eric clapton, rush, the doors. Maybe Guitar Hero 2 will have some bigger hits. OR come out with downloadable updates with new songs.
Besides that, there are several good songs to jam to. and the difficultly levels get real challenging, real quick. So, it will take you a little while to be good at it. Who knows, maybe you'll be inspired to buy a real guitar...ok, maybe not.
See ya!
Phase01

IF YOU DON'T LIKE THIS GAME,
Then you have problems.

The only problems I have with this game is that not all the songs appeal to me, and it's no fun without the guitar-controller. That's gotta tell you something.
Note: YOU MUST GET AT LEAST ONE GUITAR-CONTROLLER!

Pretty Great Game
The game is very well done. The graphics looks very much like Karaoke Revolution and the strumming along to the music is cool. Unfortunately, playing on the Dual Shock Controller is a bit of a pain and I would imagine that it would be easier to play on the actual guitar controller.
My one major gripe I have with the game is the lack of any really known bands. I understand that it is a fairly new game and they may not have been able to get licensing for it, however, all of the unlockable songs are songs I've never heard of from bands I've never heard of. They have announced a Guitar Hero 2, so hopefully they'll get some better known songs.
Overall, it's very well done, if a little repetitive. But, it's supposed to be repetitive, so it works really well. I would not recommend this game to actual guitar players because they will keep trying to play the songs like they are really played and might get a little annoyed.

Good, but could use some improvements.
This game is awesome at first glance. The sound track is great and many of the songs are very fun to play, but when I started a career, I could only get half way through the medium mode. Many of the combinations are basically impossible to pull off. Many times it seems like you even actually hit a note and it doesn't register. I am a casual gamer and I don't want to have to put hours on end into the game to beat it. If you don't have really long skinny fingers the game is TOO HARD. I am all for a challenge, but in many cases this is absolutely ridiculous! I have both of the Guitar Hero games and Guitar Hero 2 is much better. If you like big challenges, this is the game for you. If you are like me and just want to have fun, stick with guitar hero 2 and leave this game on the shelf. The soundtrack is better on the first guitar hero, but in my opinion it is not worth the money for all of the frustration.
