Twenty years after its debut, the Mega Man franchise keeps serving up non-stop action. Celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series by playing Mega Man ZX Advent. Choose from two playable heroes, Grey and Ash, each with distinct but interwoven storylines that wind through a war between men and machines. Harness the power of the mysterious Biometal model A, which takes five possible forms and holds one special ability. Use the Biometal's Megamerge ability to harness the powers of defeated bosses, upping your skills so you can find hidden routes, uncover key items, and defeat more powerful enemies. Beyond the two main storylines, ZX Advent also features head-to-head and co-op multiplayer modes plus five Mega mini-games.

Mega excellent!
This review is about the game MegamanZX Advent, a game for the DS. First of all, it's perfect for the DS. Second, it has a good storyline. The game is about the character you choose. If you pick the guy, it's about a robot who tries to figure out who he really is. If you pick the girl, it's about a hunter who also tries to find her true identity. Overall, it's the same storyline only with different genders. What's good is that you get to have different powers while going through the game. Now for the setbacks. Like I said, the storyline is the same for both characters. It would be nice to have a different story for each character next time. That's about the only bad thing for this game. What's good is that it's the same 2-D platforming we all loved from the past games. My advice, rent this game if you're either a Megaman fan or a DS fan.

Great game to pick up any time and play
I had a lot of fun with this one. It's one of the best Megamans I've played to date because there are so many different suits you can change into depending on what obstacles you have to overcome and what bosses you have to fight. You even get to inherent the forms of bosses after you defeat them and use them against other bosses later in the game. Best of all, it's a game that you can just pick up and play any time you want without worrying about remembering what you did last. You'll get addicted pretty quick though and probably be able to beat it in a few days.

haphazard
What were of the creators of this game thinking? The game is more playable than the first ZX but it's still not good enough and poorly designed. It's difficult to find your way around and too often the game leaves you in the dark. And the game is also infuriatingly hard. It's so cheap because there are lots of one-hit kills and there are far too few save points. Dying also means you have to redo all the role-playing rubbish you did before you died. Was there ANY reason not to have infinite lives and let players choose when to give up?.. or is that just too well-designed for a Mega Man game? The game's bosses are fun and they are cool, the graphics are very good 2D graphics for the DS, the soundtrack is terrific, and I really like that the game is voiced. But it's also extremely cheesy. This game is overall very hard to like.

Imbalanced gameplay
The game takes the Megaman formula and turns it on its head. This game is doing what the megaman series should have done years ago! Give you the chance to become the boss that you defeated, but sadly the game fails in the execution in most respects. the reason i think is that they wanted this to still be a megaman game, so it has stages and levels, while trying to add some degree of metroidvania style world building. To top it all off the difficulty spikes are unforgiving as well.. The game needs better balancing.. The biggest draw back is how linear this game can be at times, and how often you are forced down a particular path. WORD OF ADVICE-GET USED TO THE A TYPE CONTROLS, as they are the only ones that actually make sense from a gameplay perspective, as you will have an easier time. But sadly even with the right control scheme it still won't be enough for all the garbage this game puts you through, because like i said, the difficulty spikes are unforgiving .. Well, like i always say, try before you buy! Could have been a lot better if it were better balanced.

Good game, decent sequel.
Megaman ZX Advent is an interesting take on the Megaman franchise, if not the extremely new ZX series as a whole. Many things have changed between previous games, such as the Zero series, which this game is modeled on, in the long run. For one, there's the presence of voice acting.

In previous games, you would be limited to hearing grunts or quick phrases in Japanese when jumping or using certain attacks respectively, and would have to just read all of the text. This has changed with Megaman ZX Advent. All cutscenes are fully voiced in english, as are plot related segments of the game that serve the same purpose. However, there is a downside to this. In regards to the voice acting of Ashe and Model A, the quality is rather low, and the rest of the voices are moderately good at best. In my opinion, however, this is still better than no voices at all.

This game expands upon the number of abilities that you possess compared to the previous games, and also adds some degree of difference between the two potential protagonists. In the previous game, you could have up to 7 forms, including ostensibly non-canon unlockables. In this game, your forms will number 15 by the end of the game, as you gain the ability to play as a boss after defeating them for the first time.

The gameplay itself is of fair quality, though is entertaining unto itself as in previous games, such as ZX and the Zero series, although some forms will come across as useless in certain situations, and others as more well-rounded. Unfortunately, the ease of the bosses and the final boss makes the game's difficulty lie primarily in the levels themselves, wherein you will find the difficulty to almost resemble older games, such as the 16-bit megaman X titles.

It should be noted, however, that in spite of the fact that this title is entertaining, if not unique enough to warrant attention, that the plot can only be described as generic, and far too similar to that of ZX's, though this hardly slows it down.
