Finally!!!
Finally, a decent strategy game on DS.
I always wondered why there are so few of them available on portable game consoles, because turn-based games are natural fit for portables, IMHO. But, somehow there was only Advance Wars (and Fire Emblem to some extent, since it's RPGish).
And I kinda hate anime characters in both AW and FE. Plus those ridiculous CO powers... I always wanted Panzer General on DS (or, better yet, on PSP) and now I have it!
The game is much deeper than AW and I only wonder why it has such a bad rating on Gamefly. In my opinion, it's the best turn-based strategy game on portables so far.
It's Panzer General on the DS!!!
This is a remake of a Playstation 1 game called Panzer General that came out about 10 year's ago. It is a turn-based World War 2 strategy game that let's you play through a campaign as the Russians, Americans, or the Germans through W.W. 2. If you know what you are getting into with a game like this (see: Age of Empires as a good example) then you will have a great time. Truely worth the rental.

?????
This game, while fun, is not totally realistic. However, as it is made for a nintendo system, that is to be expected. The graphics are good and the turn based gameplay is great. The game takes into account different terrains, strengths and weaknesses accordingly. However, as I said, not all of the battles and interactions are completely realistic. All in all though, a really good game for anyone who likes the turn-based strategy style of play.

Glad to have found this one!
If you have played the Panzer General and other similar games (Allied General, Star General) from SSI back in the days, you will like this one. I have been searching high and low for some Panzer General action for years and I am glad to have found this DS version. It is not very different from the old PC Panzer General game but it is still enjoyable in this age of RTS games where good old turn-based games are almost a thing of the past. I rented this one, but soon bought it at my local shop (not available at the time to buy from Gamefly). Enjoy!
