exactly to its PSP version in every way..
if you play the PSP version before.. then there's really no need to play this PS2 version.. unless you want to play co-op mode offline or playing it on the big screen. Since it's a port.. i would thought they at least refine the graphic.. but it's looks exactly like the PSP.. and there's no vibration fuction either..But if you had never played the psp version.. then this is a goode addition to the Rachet and clank series.. but prepare for expensive than normal gadget purchases and harder than usual difficulty. It's a good game.. but i wish they could at least refine the graphic and add rumble support for the PS2 version.. but i guess they didn't..

Fun, but far from perfect.
Let's get the bad stuff out of the way. The graphics are lousy compared to the rest of the series, owing to the game being a PSP port. This is especially true if you own a large display. (However, like the other R&C titles, it does support 16:9 and progressive scan).

The story and writing? Yeah, not the best in the series. Some of the other reviews blame this on it being by High Impact and not Insomniac; I was ready to accept this until I learned that High Impact is made up of a bunch of Insomniac's developers.

Now the good stuff - it's still a R&C game. It's got goofy weapons, demented humour, and lots of minigames. If I were negative, I could say it's the weakest R&C game, but the lowest point of this series is still a lot better than a lot of games being dumped on the PS2.

If you have a PSP, get it for that, because the biggest flaw (graphics) will be less noticeable.

a step back in the series
If you have enjoyed the other games in the series, you may want to skip this game. The controls work fine , but the camera is shotty at best. The graphics are good for the PSP , but are weak for a console game. The game is a good rental , but sadly far from worth owning !!!

Warnig for all Ratchet and Clank fans (read this!)
Rachet and Clank fans don't get your hopes up, I repeat, don't get your hopes up. This game is awaful and a waste of time. The backgrounds are highly undetailed, the storyline is confusing, and the game plays extremely buggy. It seemed the game designers for this game didn't even attempt to make a decent game. For the most part the game it looks, plays, and feels like a badly made test demo. If a user plays this game he would start to believe this game is unfinished and unrendered. The weapons of the game are badly modeled, poorly designed, unimagitve repeats of the previous games, except for a few new one and they all look terrible as well. Even worst the weapons of the this game are much more weaker than their predecessors from the previous series. The camarea angles are harsh and awkward, and makes it difficult to see your enemies, platfroms, or gapes in the foreground. Also rachet nearly drowns in evey pool of water he falls or walks into, and its impossible for him to jump out of it. The targeting systems and movements of rachet are sticky, slow, and clumsy, which makes rachet miss more shots than he hits and he is hit by more attacks than dodges. The hover board mini games in this game are a complete disaster. The controls are unresponsive and leaves rachet moving in a jerky and out of control fashion. Also the inviorments of the races are confusing and extremely mundaine. The signature off beat humor of the series, is more stupid and annoying than funny. Also it was completely out of place and made little sence. This game is garbage, and if the designers didn't want to try, then they should have never made the game in the first place. This game is blimishes on the record of the rachet and clank series for being well-made and entertaining series. Size doen't matter terriblly sad exit for the series to leave the PS2 and the company should be ashamed of themselves for creating this trash. (heck, even the art design was terrible)

A Great idea, and great prospect RUINED
This has to be the biggest disappointment I have encountered in a long, long time.
First...The controls are shot.
Second...the graphics are exact to the PSP standard, I'd forgive this if it at least "felt" like a PS2 R&C
Third...The story and attitude just seemed disconnected from the rest of the series.
I spent over an hour on it, and I couldn't stand it any more.
Let's be realistic...Insomniac has the formula right. "High Impact" ruined it.

If U LOVE R&C, take da time 2 get used 2 da game..
This game is by no means great. If you've never played a PS2 R&C game before, avoid this game like the plague!!!:::: Play R&C on PS2 First. If you've played all 3 PS2 R&C's and need another boost, play this game... I played through all three first games... tried a demo of Ratchet: Deadlocked- HATED IT. R&C is as much about the banter and camaraderie as it is about the coordination....This 4th R&C game for PS2 is far inferior to it's predecessors. First off, it's made by a different company, and designed for the PSP. Therein lie it's faults... don't expect much in the way of graphics, as it's a straight port to the PS2, and don't expect the great attention to detail as it's a different company.

That being said... I've rented this game on PS2, ... Suffered through the backlash, and though I have problems with this game, if you like Ratchet & Clank, rent this game, whether it's on PSP, or PS2.

The PS2 takes a bit getting used to, but it's still a lot of fun!

Sincerely,

Buckaroo Banzai

the worst Rachet and Clank sieries EVER!!
when i got this game i expected another thriller that would make me want to keep playing, but no instead i got a game made by High Impact Games. this game has the lowest possible graphics for the PS2 and the controls are way different for the other Ratchet and Clank games. i played this game 5 minutes and i was very disappointed. an 8.3 rank for this game was a total lie! High Impact YOU suck. Insomniac Games, why didn't you create this version?

disappointing not your usual ratchet and clank
I have got to say I was highly disappointed with this game,it has terrible camera issues, poor controls and the graphics are not exactly what you are used to in the ratchet and clank series, although if your a die hard fan you will probably pick this one up in spite of its flaws be warned they are their.
