Visually amazing, narratively somewhat disappointing
It's definitely a faster pace than the first movie, but still on the disappointing side. The visuals are fantastic and amazing. The story is faster and easier to follow than the first, but, in the end, it's not exactly a feel-good movie. Without trying to give too many spoilers, you won't walk away from this one feeling good about the world. If you're okay with that kind of ending, totally worthwhile. If you're wanting a good popcorn flick, as visually beautiful as this one is, you may want to pass it by.

Just Dune It
If you watched Dune 1, you're going to watch this, you don't need me to sell you. but if you're on the fence to watching either Dune 1 or 2, save this film only for Sci/Fantasy fans.
The closest i could compare it to is if you like Star Trek, you will probably like Dune 1 and 2. Okay lets get into the review
First, great visuals. blah fine, it's 2024. Cast, awful. The kid who plays Paul (Timmy C.) he disappears into the role, and i mean he vanishes. I guess he was eye-candy for all the teen girls who were dying to see Dune 1 and 2, but for married adults in the room, we were robbed of a strong male lead. Chati, i forgot how to spell both character and actress name, but she has 1 facial expression. Annoyed. She has no range. I guess that is why Spiderman likes her. he likes a ... VENOMous woman!
Okay but seriously, the rest of the cast is great, so if you can forgive the 2 leads for pulling down D1&2 , you'll enjoy the films for the spectacle they offer.
but these movies are slow, 2 even more so than part 1. I mean really slow. And you really have to be paying attention, so it's not a popcorn movie. it's a "let me watch a video after this so i understand i just saw" kind of movie.
To give you an idea of how complex this movie and series is, what is SPICE? SPICE is a like drug or something. When you're on it, (only some ppl can do this, Paul uses it too), you can see premonition into the future. So some space-navigators USE this to plot starship courses. This is why the SPICE MUST FLOW, because in a universe with energy is cheap, BIG OIL is basically BIG SPICE. You gotta keep the navigators using to plot your starship course. Blink and you will miss this detail in the movie.
Don't read the books. it's like putting your hand in the fear box for the next dozen weeks it will take to read it. Watch a youtube summary (ALT-SHIFT-X has a great summary vid) if you absolutley have to know what comes after D1&2 but just be prepared for GoT S8 levels of disappointment.

Spice...
Actually thought PtII was better than the first one. Fantastic A/V effects.
It still jumps around a bit too much like the first one...from one scene to another with no context. Also had a bit of a Star Wars vibe toward the end. Worth a rental.

little different from the books. but solid film nonetheless. A+ cast and decent budget. and used well. the ending felt kinda rushed but understandable. can't wait for the next one!
