In this disaster epic, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson single-handedly beats up the San Andreas Fault. OK, not really. But Johnson does an awesome job starring in this over-the-top action movie. He plays a helicopter rescue pilot who is trying to save his ex-wife and his daughter from certain death in the most massive earthquake in recorded history. He starts in L.A. and must fly up the coast to his daughter in San Francisco, as the aftershocks rip up the California coastline. The set pieces are unforgettable and guaranteed to please action fans. The special effects are top-notch and feature lovingly rendered depictions of the complete destruction of both San Francisco and Los Angeles. In other words: San Andreas is classic Hollywood disaster-action turned up past 11.

Thought provoking, but a bit cheesy
Many interesting theories and visual effects, but story too predictable and a bit cheesy
