A Hades of a Good Time
As far as roguelikes go, Hades is easily in my top 3 along with Dead Cells and Risk of Rain 2. Before playing, you have to know what a "roguelike" generally is (lots of death and restarting from the "beginning" with randomized levels and perks each playthrough and some persistent upgrades):
-Gameplay loop
---Hades nails the roguelike genre, even if the # of bosses is a little underwhelming. Each new run feels organically easier, thanks to unlocking a slew of permanent upgrades and the random nature of upgrading your weapons/altering abilities, getting new powers from the Gods, new items that guarantee certain upgrades or give you extra attack power or health, etc. Losing can feel inherently frustrating, but the addicting combat and feeling like you're getting incrementally better make you want to come back.
-Story
---The story is fun and has a few interesting twists and turns. If you're a fan of Greek mythology, you'll get to interact with everyone from Zeus and Aphrodite to Achilles, Maegara, and Eurydice. Every character feels unique and is superbly acted, even if some of them (including your character) deliver lines in a dejected, bored manner. But seeing your character's story through to the end is fun and helps the gameplay loop, as you'll unlock new dialogue and story beats almost every run.
-Randomized Features
---Arguably the most important part of a roguelike is how well the "random" nature works. Some runs, you'll feel like an overpowered true God, while some runs you may not get what you want. Some perks feel objectively lamer than others, but the "prophecies" feature will make you want to try out as many combinations as possible. It's exciting to find your favorite God's powers, like adding Zeus' lightning to attacks or summoning Poseidon to transform you into a powerful tidal wave.
Hades is absolutely worth a purchase, even if the bosses become underwhelming. Starting a new run is exciting, and organically becoming "better" is extremely satisfying.

Engaging, But Ultimatley Repetitive, And Boring...
Based on reviewes from gaming sites, I had high hopes for Hades. The storyline and characters are all very engaging and fun to interact with. The action is plentiful and you have an arsenal of weapons and abilities to suit any play style. Actually, the amount of content in Hades is staggering. The problem with the game is it's repetiveness. Your goal is to escape the underworld, the problem is, when you die, you start at the beginning. As you get stronger, your enemies adapt so fighting some bosses again for the 3rd, 4th, maybe 20th time, will eventually start to feel different. But honestly, for me, this task gets boring and having to start over again gets frustrating. Too bad, this could have been a lot better.

It's a overly glorified rogue-like
This game is extremely repetitive and boring.. It's not all bad, the graphics and sound quality are top notch, but what they say is somewhat cheesy and kind of shallow.. The gameplay is where the rubber hits the road and this game fails at it spectacularly.. This game has been billed by some to be a RPG like Diablo, But THIS game is NOT an RPG.. This is a highly repetive action game. Some diablo like elements exist like with the camera angle, there are alos diablo like boons, but they are TEMPORARY and only regulated to each run.. Part of the joy of getting drops iin Diablo is their long standing infulence on your game, and that is not here, since it is a rogue-like.. As a result, You are completely rolling the the dice when it comes to each different escape attempt with no real long standing boosts..
Maybe I am not a fan of rohue likes, Maybe the Diablo series is not a rogue like, but rather a RPG with Rogue like elemeent.. People need to stop confusing the two..

More fun than expected!
I really liked it! Controls worked well and I played through to the end of the storyline with only a little exasperation lol. I would definitely play another in the same vein
