Suit up for an iconic adventure!

Intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran receives a distress signal from a wrecked frigate in orbit around planet Tallon IV. Upon investigation, the frigate reveals itself to be a Space Pirate research vessel home to terrifying genetic experiments using the mysterious Phazon substance. There, Samus encounters her nemesis, Meta Ridley, whom she pursues to the surface of Tallon IV. It's up to her alone to explore the planet's interconnected regions, investigate its dark secrets, and end the intergalactic threat posed by Phazon.

Experience this critically acclaimed first-person adventure like never before with remastered visuals, audio, controls, and more. Trained as a warrior and infused with Chozo DNA, the indomitable Samus Aran patrols the galaxy as a feared freelance bounty hunter.

Explore some of the Chozo-created weapons and abilities Samus has at her fingertips on this adventure!

Power Suit: An advanced Chozo exoskeleton modified for use by Samus Aran, the Power Suit provides life-support functions and is well shielded from attack. The modular nature of the Power Suit allows for the addition of weapons, Visors, climate resistance, and other gear as needed.

Visors: Signature abilities of the Metroid Prime series, the Power Suit's selectable user interfaces help Samus analyze and interact with the world around her. The Scan Visor allows Samus to investigate objects and enemies from an accumulated database. Upgrades like the Thermal Visor and X-ray Visor allow Samus to see her environment in new ways.

Arm Cannon: Samus' main weapon converts her bioenergy into a Beam, which can be fired rapidly or charged up for greater power. Upgrades like explosive Missiles, the electrified Wave Beam, and others can expand her arsenal in essential ways. Many doors can only be unlocked with specific Arm Cannon abilities.

Morph Ball: Samus can transform into Morph Ball form - approximately one meter in diameter - to roll through narrow passages and other hard-to-reach areas. Like the Power Suit, the Morph Ball is modular. There are several modifications that can be added to improve performance, including the Bomb attack and Boost Ball maneuver.

Takes a lot of thinking - it's fun!
be prepared to do some thinking, unless you use a guide. Seriously so much enjoyment out of this game. There are a lot of times where you need to go back to places you've already visited so I recommend keeping a notepad from the start & notate places you couldn't get to so it's easier to get back to near the end. Use the scan visor on everything!

Some good changes, some bad
The good: Dual analague control is nice, cool details like seeing samus' bones in xray, the way the water drips down her visor, the new ice beam animation when you charge it, more detailed character models on bosses like parasite queen. The bad: The charge beam looks cheap compared to the original, doors dont have the cool effect where they would drop their forcefield before opening, chozo artifact hunt is STILL a tedious zelda fetchquest, fog effects go waaaay overboard ruining some areas like the room before the pirate research lab, the backtracking for the phazon suit is still there which is unfortunate. The ugly: still has elevator loading screens, hard mode can only be selected after you beat the game, no option to unlock fusion suit, not much replay value. Not the worst remaster but doesnt do enough to become the definitive version of prime, that honor goes to the gamecube version. Its still metroid prime though which is always good no matter what form its in.

Holds Up Great!
Easy & short enough to complete if you just want to revisit this before the new Metroid comes out. Loaded with content if you want to pour hours into it. Plus updated control schemes bring a lot of life to the title, even if you did several playthroughs of the original. Nintendo blew everyone away with how well they brought Metroid into the POV era in 2002. And because of limited releases on the Switch, it's entirely possible some newer fans have only played 2D Metroid games. This is a must-play if you fall into that group.

meh...
I know a lot of people love this game. It plays fine, it's just not for me. Not big on all the puzzles and continuously having to revisit areas after unlocking the appropriate gear. At one point I had gotten significantly far into the game. When I died, I realized I hadn't been to a manual save point within the game and lost all my progress. It was at that point I packed it up and sent it back to Gamefly. Thank goodness for rentals.

Very boring
I never played the original and was hoping for a great adventure. This is tiringly simple, laborious, and hard to get engrossed because the HUD, even turned off, takes up half the screen. Functionally average at best

Do you like back tracking?
Yeah, then good news for you because that's 80% of this game.

Best Metroid Game I've Played
This game is so good. There's a lot of cool puzzles where you really have to think to solve them. Also, this is the only metroid game i've played where you get missiles before morph ball. The exploration is also one of the best parts about this game even though there's a hint system that you can turn on where if you go around not knowing where to go next then it puts a question mark in the exact room that you're supposed to go in next. It can be very fun and very frustrating if you're going one way but you find that you are actually going in the opposite direction that you're supposed to go in. Ten out of ten definitely!
