Best Pikmin yet!
From 2001 to 2013, Nintendo has continued to refine and evolve the Pikmin series, coming a little bit closer to perfection each time. "Pikmin 3", with its lusher environments, polished gameplay mechanics, and new types of Pikmin, leaves me wondering what Nintendo could possibly do to impress us further with a hypothetical "Pikmin 4". Giving us the choice to play with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk is greatly appreciated, as the Wii versions of "Pikmin" and "Pikmin 2" controlled flawlessly that way. The new characters are fun and endearing, and teamwork is more important than ever. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the game strikes a happy balance between the stressful urgency of "Pikmin" and the open-ended lack of consequence of "Pikmin 2". In this third entry, you're not really limited by number of days (you're allotted 99 days, which is dozens more than even the least efficient player is likely to require), but you're tasked with the responsibility of keeping your food rations in stock. This gives the gameplay a sort of "soft urgency" that still allows the player to take all the time he or she needs to cultivate Pikmin forces or simply explore the vibrant regions.

The Best Title on Wii U.
As of now, Pikmin 3 is the best title on Wii U. This game has had quite a development cycle, starting on the GameCube, moving to Wii, and being delayed 4 times on Wii U. Let's see if it was worth the wait:
Gameplay:
Gameplay of Pikmin 3 as is follows: You control an army of Pikmin, little ant-like creatures, to collect fruit for the main characters' dying planet. There are a few types of Pikmin, including the Fire-resistant Red Pikmin, the water-breathing Blue Pikmin, the shock-resistent Yellow Pikmin, The new strong Rock Pikmin, and finally the flying Winged Pikmin. If you're wonder where White and Purple Pikmin are, they are in the new multiplayer mode. The multiplayer consists of two modes: Bingo Battle, and Mission mode. Bingo Battle is a game of Bingo where you have to collect the objects shown on a card in either a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal line. It can be fun and crazy at times. Mission mode is basically doing missions like you would in story mode, but you have a time limit. These are fun too. Also, if you found Pikmin to be hard because of the 30 day time limit, it has been replaced with how much fruit you have. Everyday, you will consume one piece of fruit. It's not as restrictive or scary as the original time limit was.
Graphics:
The graphics are amazing. A question many people may have is how it looks compared to games on the 360 and PS3. It looks noticeably better than most games on those systems, and I can confirm the ground isn't as bad as many other reviews have made it out to be. As the game was meant to be a launch title, the game is rendering at 720p, but upscales to 1080p just fine. Nintendo has stated that the Wii U can handle native 1080p no problem, and just launch titles were going to be running in 720p.
Final Verdict: Pikmin 3 is a game that all U owners need to own. The game is the best looking game on Wii U, the gameplay is solid, and the story is great. It was worth the wait. 10/10.

Looks can be decieving...
I had been really excited to play Pikmin 3, as I wanted to play it ever since its release. Upon learning Gamefly shipped it to me, I was thrilled. When it finally arrived, I put it into my WiiU, sat back, and got ready to have fun. It loaded up, I tapped start, and a loading screen appeared. Thinking it was normal, I had no doubts it would load up eventually. After 10 minutes though, I was fairly peeved. I was excited to see a screen pop up, but was disheartened to see it said my Gamepad connection was unstable. I restarted my WiiU, loaded up a different game, and to my surprise, nothing went wrong with this one. So, I tried Pikmin 3 again, and waited for half an hour. When nothing changed, I tried to eject the disk, which came out, despite the loading music still playing. I turned off the system, put the game back in the sleeve, and wrote this review.
Maybe there is something wrong with the disk, or it could be my system. Whatever the case, something did not work, spoiling a supposed night of fun.

Best Pikmin Game
If you liked playing Pikmin, I didn't when I first picked it up, then you'll love this game.
Even if you're not a fan, I wasn't until I picked up the Wii version of the original Pikmin game, you will enjoy this game.
Despite the fact this game is about micro-managing troops to collect, it makes you feel like a commander playing a very responsive RTS strategy game without the heavy HUD and need to worry about the numbers.
A Pikmin game on the WiiU was a perfect idea as the interface between the WiiU pad and the game makes it for easier for management, unlike the Gamecube and Wii versions of the prior games.
Great music, great controls, great graphics, fun gameplay, great game. Would recommend.
BTW, this game only took me about a week to finish, might take more if I bothered to complete it.

I really wanted to like this game
As the title suggests I really wanted to like this game. I played through and enjoyed the first two Pikman games on my Gamecube years ago. I really enjoyed the 2nd game as the game wasn't timed (no air or food to run out of) and when you were in a dungeon time didn't progress .
I have several problems with this game. For starters it feels like there is never enough time in the day. I especially feel this when trying to tackle a boss fight. Another thing I dislike is the fact the entire game is on a timer with the whole keep up your juice stock. I love the idea of having to think about what you need to do to pass the puzzles but its hard to do that when the day is so short and you feel like you gotta start the whole stage over because of your "Juice" stock. This is the game breaker for me. I could handle the short days or the Juice meter if it was one or the other, but not both! I feel like I can't enjoy the game because im always stressed to hurry up.
Finally I would like to talk about requiring two controllers to play the game. It is annoying that they REQUIRE.. not recommend but REQUIRE that you have a wiimote and your wii u pad out. This means people who did not previously own a Wii now have to go out and buy another controller just to play this game. It is a huge hassle trying to keep up with the Wii-U controller and a wii-mote. Also I see no reason they should require you to use the wiimote. How hard would it have been to have an option to play the game on the Wii-U pad that came with the system?
Anyways glad I rented and did not buy, that why I like Gamefly so well. I would have been very unhappy if I had spent $60 on this game.

good but
I like the look and the play style but I'm not into the whole play three different characters AT ONE TIME. It might just be me but I don't like it but I think it be better with just to be like the first pikmin.

Good.
I really enjoyed the gameplay in Pikmin 3. The story was a little impossible, but mythbusters kind of crazy plausible. There were lots of areas to explore, and enough to do to warrant buying this game. I think that the puzzles in this game would be too hard for anyone under 7ish. This game is a great pastime, however, the Nintendo Network symbol on this game is A JOKE. The only NN content is DLC. Come on nintendo.

TL;DR: This is a great game, it just lacks online multiplayer. Rent it now.

Faithful sequel
My six year old and I love this game. It feels like everything I loved about pikmin has been refined. If I had a complaint it would be that it left me wanting more even after three playthroughs and completing the challenges. Would be a ten but I know it's not for everyone.
