The same as all of the rest
Spyro, A hero's tail is the most recent big screen Spyro game on the shelves.

The game overall doesn't seem any different than recent Spyro games other than, the shop to buy stuff in. The controls are the same except for the gliding and other special features are to be unlocked later in game.

Ok, but not good enough.
After surviving that horrendous abomination, Enter the Dragonfly, I was happy to see all the changes made in A Hero's Tail.

The graphics are a huge step up, especially with Spyro's gliding animation. Traveling between worlds is no longer done by portals but instead by zones. I was a little torn on that at first, but I suppose it will do.

My first major gripe of the game came very early on. The voices. What did they do to Spyro, Hunter, Moneybags, and the Professor? Spyro and Moneybags have it the worst, I believe. Why did they have to change Moneybags so dramatically? He went from being English to... stereotypical ... something? Terrible.

Also, the script is just as bad. The game tries to be funny and give Spyro a bit of an attitude. Unfortunately it falls flat on its face. It's boring, plain and simple.

The quality of the different zones ranges. Some are nicely done while others lack focus. When I first arrived in the Cloudy Domain I felt like a kid with ADD. Where in the heck do I focus?!

This game also boasts a whole slew of minigames. Unfortunately it was these minigames that made this game a chore for me to play. They are not fun... they are obnoxious! With the first two Spyro games I could play them for hours. They were fun. With this there was a few times where I turned off my console in frustration.

Overall, it's a huge step up, but not quite as good as the first two games. If you have the patience to deal with the tedious minigames, then by all means.

Oh, and why did they switch the buttons for breath and charge? WHY? There were so many instances where pressing the wrong button got me killed.

A Decent Platformer
This is the best Spyro game I've played. This isn't really saying much, I've never been impressed by the series, but this one is quite playable. In terms of gameplay, it's on par with the Tak games(but lacks Tak's stellar voice acting). The controls are solid, and the jumping precise. The camera isn't your best friend, but it won't kill you either.

This is classic platforming. Jump, dodge and headbutt your way from level to level. It doesn't break any new ground, but it kept my interest. The later levels are a challenge, with some minor puzzle solving and major leaping and swinging.

A good fun rental that will keep you busy over a weekend (if you like platformers and have a high tolerance for cheesy kid's stuff).

Good Yet Bad?!
This game was a very cool game at first. Then you realize it's not a very GOOD Spyro game!

I guess it's okay
This game is okay. Not one of my favorites though.

Spyro: A Hero's Tail
This Spyro is the best of the new versions. After the dismal "Enter the Dragonfly" it was refreshing to play this one. It's very similar to the original three games. The boss fights are kinda easy and the dialog is trite, but the mini games are challenging and there is tons of exploring to be done. Don't bother finishing up gathering everything, as the alternate ending is dumb and short. Still, it's a really fun game with many worlds and levels to explore.
