not a game for people with stresful lives!
this game and decepticons version, wich i havent played but its got good reviews, are the best transformers games i have ever played in my life! but the camera has an auto target for difficult combat. NOT TO MENTION YOU WILL CRY (wich i did) OF HOW MUCH STRESS THIS GAME DILIVERS DUE TO HOW HARD IT IS. (see title). but you do get to create a drone which you play as along with all the autobots, and you get to level up and get cool abilities! this game suprisingly has a comedian part with funny gags, lines, and threat level responces. when i get the decepticons version i will review that too! but in the mean time, 7.5 for this! honestly get cheat codes!

More than meets the eye...but not enough.
I went in thinking this game was going to be another horrible licensed game. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I popped it in to my DS. The game, while by NO means perfect, accomplishes feats I never thought possible on the DS. First off, the sheer size of the game world is amazing. It's very similar to GTA in the size. This is, however, limiting on the detail and activity that goes on in the city. Which leads to one of the minor flaws of the game: the graphics. By no means are the graphics eye-popping or original. However, this does not really detract from the experience.

One of the best features of the game is the sound aspects of the game. If you watched Transfomers as a kid, then you will instantly recognize the sound effects. They come straight from the TV series and I admit I giggled a little when I heard that classic laser sound. But perhaps the BEST part of the sound is the FULL voice acting. That's right. Vicarious Visions went all out and even got the original (and movie) voice actor for Optimus Prime. All the voice actors do a spot on job.

Finally the gameplay. This is where I was let down. Combat boils down to mashing the A button until your opponent is dead. Now this works for some games and it sort of works here, but I was just left wanting something a little deeper. Another thing is the targeting system. It's terrible. It's almost impossible to lock on to something before it turns you into slag. This leads me to the final issue of the game. It is pretty unforgiving. I'm a pretty experienced gamer and I've run into a ton of situations where I can do nothing but die. It's challenging but extremely frustrating at the same time.

Overall, Transformers isn't a BAD game per se. It just isn't a high caliber game. Some of the innovations (size of the world, full voice acting) are amazing for the DS but in the end all that matters is gameplay gameplay gameplay. Check it out if you're a Transformers fan or DS fan. Others? You can pass it.

This just like "Transformers:Decepticons"!
Transformers:Autobots is not as close to the movie as the other versions{with the exception of decepticons}, and dies out near the-oh,who am I kidding, this game flat out sucked in storyline!! The game takes your character{you make your own} to all the places the had any action in. Unlike the PSP version, this game has a free roam option, which allows you to go to any place the game has taken you. Besides the character you made,it lets you play as other characters in specific levels. Some levels{to me}smetines become impossible to beat, then get even harder! the graphics are pretty good, nice use of the touch screen, could've used better weapons, and meelee fights are a major improvement compared to the PSP version. An average gamer should beat this game within: 1 month.

THE PERFECT GAME!!
The missions are awesome with just a little frustration to them but still really awesome. You don't even have to play missions, you can explore the open world, beating decepticons, scanning vehicles, and just driving around. THREE THUMBS UP FROM ME!!

Better than the 2nd, but harder
I enjoied this game better than the second game. You can choose your autobot's form, rather than being stuck with it throught the entire game. Also, you can scan flying forms so you can explore levels like never before.

Sadly this game has it's downsides, combat could use a tune-up, many of the missions are very hard. And the humans make you wish you were a decepticon instead.

So to wrap up:
You'll love:
Choosable forms
Ability to fly
Amazing moves left out in the 2nd game.

You'll Hate:
Frustrating combat system
Very Hard missions
The humans

Despite the downs, you should really take this game for a spin.
