This open-world action-RPG from the creators of the Gothic series features lush graphics and an intriguing sci-fi fantasy setting. You're free to explore every part of Magalan, a world of magic and technology, inventive characters, deadly monsters, and complex choices. The world of Magalan was devastated by a meteor strike. Now everyone wants to control the limited supply of Elex, an element that gives people enhanced powers or can be used for mechanical inventions. The combat allows you to use a wide range of weapons including swords, axes, bows, harpoons, shotguns, plasma rifles, and even flamethrowers. The interlocking quest system means every decision has a real impact. Your choices shape whether emotions or cold logic will rule this strange world.

If you like Risen and/or Gothic, GET IT!
The game is a large open world action RPG that rewards exploration. It has crafting, skill trees, factions, stories, and loot. Weapons range from sword & board all the way to laser rifles and magic. The difficulty can be daunting at first, but once you get a hang of how the system is intended to work you can manage on the highest difficulty settings with very little trouble. There are some problems and some of them aren't minor. You will crash, to remedy this, save OFTEN, and have multiple saves. There is a bit of jankiness to the animations due to the fact that they are hand crafted. There is a bit of screen tearing at times, draw distances very widely, and frame rate drops are not uncommon. But, if you can overlook it's flaws, there is a great game here, even if it is rough around the edges. Great lore and at times, beautiful settings. There is a ton of content here, I beat the game at around the 50 hour mark and I missed a lot. I'm playing through a second time and having much more fun now that I know how things work. If you like Risen and/or Gothic it's a no-brainer. If you are new to PB games, and you want to try it, go ahead, but keep in mind that this isn't a triple A title. Elex has issues, but if you can overlook those issues I believe you will enjoy it for many, many hours. I have over 80 hours in the game and I'm still playing it, that's gotta say something... either I'm insane and love to be tortured or there is something special here. I'll leave it to you to decide which camp you belong to. Enjoy!

Kinda like stockholm syndrome
I absolutely LOVE this game. If it wasnt for its stiff animations, lazy dialogue, amateur sound design, inconsistent art direction, and its inattentive attempt at immersion and detail, this would be atleast an 8. Although im still gunna buy it. After the first 10-20 hours, youll actually enjoy yourself. Ps its actually pretty decent. Just lower your expectations. Alot.

The game is hard.
Seriously hard but every level up helps and you will earn those levels. Found the game to be incredibly satisfying, a large open world to explore and a rich plot line with a lot of choices that actually affect the end game. The character to character interactions was a very nice touch as well. The multiple different factions and choices allows for more than one play through without being boring. Just remember you are going to die because everything can kill you especially in the lower levels. But it gets much easier as you level.

could have been better
The story is very confusing. You feel that you are running aimlessly. Combat is frustrating, character looks buff, but can be killed very easily very clumsy, when you get a a comrade, they are slow to act especially in combat.

unpolished gem
If you've played another Pihrana Bytes game you kind of know what to expect. There's an extremely good game buried underneath quite a few issues and a greuling beginning. Diehard fans of the genre will learn to love it, whereas anyone else might overlook what it has to offer. The game really shines when it comes to decisions effecting the story, and enviromental story telling. It doesn't just boil down to good ending or bad ending like many other games.

Difficult game, but worth it, if you stay
This game needs some updates mainly for the glitches some of the lag within the game and noticeable glitches. I originally was just going to send it back. But I decided to stick with it. It got better the longer I played. It is by no means an easy game to play, you will die and you will die a lot. Things I found to help this, is run toward an NPC and let them deal with the problem or carry Grenades you can buy at the Outlaw camp. Eventually you will get powerful enough where you won't have to run away, but there will be things that can still can kill you. In this game you must Save save save save. Save as much as you can. As often as you can. You never know when death will come. This game was made by a studio of about 25 people. So while it's not a top notch game, it is a fun game, if you can look past the glitches and the janky combat system. You see a story that is vast and quite interesting. Everyone one has a different story and you can help or not. A lot of games say there are repercussions to your actions, but this game I found has much more noticeable ones. You are not able to create your own look to your character, but everything is such as stats, weapons, and armor. Including every choice you make shapes who the character will become. I really would rent this game first and see if you like it. It took me awhile before I really got into it. I did mention it needs updates, there is a lot of lag in certain areas, also lag when it autosaves, which is annoying especially when fighting, also I have had my share of PS4 Crashes too from this game. Which goes back to one of the earlier comments: save often.

there is an excellent game under clucky combat
There is an awesome story, great open world and lots of diversity / ways to play. This game reminds me of new Vegas. Great factions and tons of story elements backed by an excellent story. The bad part is the combat is clunky and the game is difficult. If you can get it through your head to work around those, there is an amazing game to play here.

A lesser version of Horizon Zero Dawn
This is an above average game, not sure why all the hate. The graphics are rather beautiful in most places, and they do a great job of displaying a post apocalyptic landscape. There are still some very brief lags when the game auto saves. The game is rather difficult at the beginning until you get the control mechanics down. There WILL be monsters you simply can't beat until you gain more levels. There are very real consequences for your actions in game, so choose wisely. The story has a lot of potential, and it lives up to about 75% of what it could've been. With a little more effort the story could have been thoroughly fleshed out and pushed into the 8-9 rating range. It's definitely worth a rental. And if you like sarcastic people, then choose to join the outcast faction.
