Can we please just get to the good stuff
I have played a lot of RPG's and time and time again my biggest disappoinment coming away from the game is usually something to with the story, or lack of. This game however nails it. This has one of the most engainging storys and well done character developments I have ever seen in an RPG. The main character is awesome and watching his incredibly compelling story unfold and the way he changes from the people and events around him is exactly the reason RPG's were invented in the first place. The supporting cast provides a lot of laughs as well and I don't think a game has ever really made me laugh out loud this much. SO, amazing story, superb cast, but.....terrible gameplay. It seems like the random real time battles happen every 2 or 3 steps, and there is no map at all to track your progress in dungeons so just can just wander lost step by step battle after tedious battle. I was literally stuck in one dungeon for 4 hours before I had to find an online guide to get me through or I'm not sure I ever could have got out. It's a shame playing the game is not that much fun, but I still think the the story and overall lasting impression it will leave with you is easily worth the 20 hour grind.

Serously.....No Map?
At first I was enjoying playing Mimana: Iyar Chronicle and I must say it's fun and good but it is above average. Here's my rankings...

Story 8/10
I gave it an 8. Somehow I don't why do we need to gather all 8 gems for. But I really don't mind about gathering lots of gems. It's just exploring into a new world.

Characters 7/10
I gave it an 7. I really like that characters design art but not during gameplay. I really like how the game the main character hangs out with all the 4 girls HOWEVER all 4 girls are almost sound the SAME! It's so odd.

Battle 9/10
It's really fun. Nuff said.

Graphic 5/10
Grapic looks all right to me. Nuff said.

Gameplay 5/10
I serously hate when there is no MAP! I totally got lost at Tree of Elves. So I gave up on playing this because it's so stupid!

Overall Rankings: 34/50

Slow Going...
This is definitely an RPG from back in the day... What first drew me in was the style of combat.. you assign behaviors to your allies and kinda 'streets of rage' your way through the battle.. blocking and attacking and magic-ing things of the sort, which reminded me of old favorites like 'beyond oasis' or 'illusion of gaia' I believe it was.. it's a played out story told from a new perspective.. pretty much standard 16-bit interface.. but very bright 'cutscenes'.. I believe the dialogue is entirely voiced which is interesting.. but skipable if you're trying to proceed with the story.. my favorites on the PSP are still going to be Wild Arms and Crisis Core.. but so far (approx 25% through the game) it's kept my interest enough to want to finish..

14 and 43 hundredths of a second is NOT ACCEPTABLE
This will be one of my shorter reviews(I wonder...nah, nevermind), but it can be summed up in about two sentences.
A JRPG with mechanical inspirations from Sword of Vermillion and Final Fantasy, featuring solid, if not over-the-top, English voice acting. All ruined by what I can only describe as a completely insufferable collection of load times.
To spell it out, the amount of time listed in the title of this review is what occurs between EVERY SINGLE blind random encounter trigger & the beginning of player-controlled combat. Add in the load times for menu navigation, map controls, conversation, etc. and it just feel like the game is draining your life away as you play.

Some genres DON'T mix....
Spikey haired punk rpg meets lousy, stinking, garbage-heap of a street fighter/streets of rage clone and this adds up to one seriously messed up game! Battles are slow to load, and there is no realstrategy most of the time except to mash the attack button repreatedly which will get old for most people!
The hero has a chip on his shoulder the size of the Brooklyn bidge, has a personality that is a cross between a semi-truck on steroids and a whiny-spoiled prince who failed to make Disney's bad guy roster because he wasn't able to be evil enough, or at least didn't have enough original material to make the cut! Whiny faced bad guy wannabes are now making the roster for jrpgs??? What is the world coming too?? Don't awnser that! I said it before and it bears repeating, TRY BEFRORE YOU BUY!! To the creators of this game..Some genres DO NOT mix!!!!! JRPGs are a dying breed and this game is proof of this!
