Based on the classic book, The Hobbit the video game recreates the adventure and wonder of J.R.R. Tolkien's enduring yarn about a child-sized hero and hobbit known as Bilbo Baggins. On his fantastical quest to take back the treasure of Lonely Mountain from the greedy, sleepy, evil dragon Smaug, Bilbo, Thorin the dwarf and his dwarven company, and Gandalf the Grey, must first survive a long, perilous journey. Bilbo will encounter hungry trolls, goblins in the Misty Mountains, the treacherous Gollum, wolves on the tail, the giant spiders of Mirkwood, and finally mighty Smaug himself. It is a timeless adventure filled with action, wisdom and heart, now virtualized and perfect for both mature children and adults.

This game is definetly worth renting!!!!
This game is great if you're looking for an easy, and addictive, game. There are some pretty cool stealth missions. It's probably not worth buying, however. The game is rather short. And there isn't very much replay value. So, this is an awsome game to rent, but not to buy. P.S. this game is also good if you get queasy at the sight of (you know what,i'm not allowed to use the actual word), because there is none.

The Hobbit
This game is a pretty good game all around, even though it dosnt have the best graphicks. This game can be difficult for any gamer unless you take forever online reading on how to do the things, but that just ruins the game. Well i like how there are also quest that are not mandantory but there still no that bad. Another good thing about this game is that i like how the charachters not reealy fake like all the other games like this 1. Overall this game is good for kids from 8-12 depending on wat kind of games you like

As Classic as the Book
It may not follow the book exactly, it may not have the best graphics, and it may not have the best combat, but if you're letting the idea that this game won't be perfect keep you from trying it out, you have no idea what you're missing. The way the game is presented is fantastic, the worlds are imaginative and fairly well detailed for the PS2 era, combat, while not perfect, still flows well, and the game blends with the timeless tale The Hobbit in a way to stay faithful to the source, while still being an original experience on its own.
Also worthy of note is the music.
I'm a true fan of video game soundtracks, and few compare to the pure brilliance that is this game's music. A blend of deep orchestrated pieces, old-time country flutes and guitars, and even an oompah song or two, harmonize brilliantly with the games environments to provide a deep level of immersion not often found with games. If you loved the book, if you love video game music, heck, if you love trying something out of the public eye, definitely give The Hobbit a look. You won't regret it.

Big let down
I have the PC version of this game. And I thought it would be cool to try the PS2 version. ( Because, you know I figured it would be different.) But it's EXACTLY the same! And I was disappointed. So if you have the PC version, or have tried it and do not like it, then I suggest you DO NOT RENT THIS GAME!!!
