Transform and roll out!
Transformers 2: Autobots was a great rental, if a little bit short. You name your autobot, then choose one of three forms that you keep for the entire game. Your choices are: a light Chevy concept compact, much like Skids or Mudflap, a medium muscle car, or a big, hulking ambulance. I personally liked the muscle car. However, any of them are fine. Instead of a huge, free-roaming world like in the first Transformers, you have little missions that you have to complete. That's all I will say about that. You can customize your stats and equipment, which is a step up from the first game, where you have preset weapons. Finally, you can only play as 5 characters, which you cannot choose from: Your Autobot, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, and Breakaway. You only play as Breakaway in one mission, as he is a jet, and that is his tutorial mission. All in all, I give it a nine.

Well-done but very difficult movie-based game.
With all the box office hype and the records Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has started setting in the movie theaters, it is likely that the game will be popular.
In the game you go around as a Transformer throughout planet Earth and embark on a multi-continent action-adventure. You can also morph from a robot into a choice of three vehicles and vice versa. You can also morph into a jet and back to a human/vehicle form. However, at the beginning of the game you can only pick one of those three that you are limited to using for the rest of the game, so pick wisely.
You spend a lot of time scanning coded weapons to decipher and break them, and of course, there is lots of fighting between you and bad robots.
There are many good things to say about this game. For example, the graphics are very detailed and well-done. Also, there's some witty dialogue from fellow team members about the best strategies to attack bad robots, to decipher coded weapons with your robotic scanner, or whether you should go past a street in vehicle or robot form.
The controls are easy most of the time, and the missions are fun, but they are difficult as well, partially because the game allows so many enemies at one time that it's nearly impossible to shoot them all without your health meter draining to 0. You can pick up green medicines that recharge your health meter, though, but there are only a few and they're usually not near where you're fighting. But, you naturally regain health when not in combat.
But once you get past the first few levels, you'll be fine with the rest of the game. Tip: fight your enemies before you scan objects.
The game's well done, so I recommend it very much as a buy. If you're a beginner at these video games, I'd suggest renting it first to see if you are comfortable with the controls and difficulty of the missions, and decide whether to buy it later.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen recieves a solid 8/10 recommendation. Very impressed.

Downgraded Sequel
The first Transformers DS game based on the movie was very good. It allowed you to make your own Transformer and choose a form to be. You could even change your form anytime you wanted. Another nice feature was the large (for a Nintendo DS) free-roam maps. The only downside it had was that one form was ONLY available via Target download station and almost every mission made you play as the Transformers from the movie.

In this sequel, you still get to make your own Transformer. Only this time, you get to pick one of only 3 forms and it's permanent. However, the "story" mode lets you play as your custom Transformer more often. Only thing is now we downgrade from a nice free-roam world to small mission only levels. No more driving/flying around freely whenever you want without having to beat objectives within certain time limits. Of all the games I have played, I have never seen one actually remove the free-roam open world. Normally you see games go from this mission only levels to open world, not the other way around.

This game isn't really worth the rent/buy unless you want to just play with your friends.
