Beat Down Brilliance
Wow ive played this game like 60 times. I still aint bored of it. The fighting is hard but once u get it down its very fun and presents a challenge. About time a fighting games proves a challenge. The number of characters are awesome. You have people from exhibit to sean paul to elephant man to busta rhymes. Each Fighter even has his own special moves and abilities so its like almost endless possibilities. Now the career mode is fantastic. Like almost unlimited customization from pants and shirts to jewelry and hats. This game is worth the buy not rent. Its even pretty cheap now that its kinda old.

Just Plain Ol' Head Kickin' Fun
Graphics: The graphics aren't drop-dead gorgeous. But they are definitely very good, each of the characters is very recognizable and the special effects are rather impressive. One of the most beautiful aspects of the graphics though is the animation. Each flawlessly fluid throw, punch and flying kick looks like it has some power behind it, and you might find yourself grimacing in delight at the brutality of some of the hits. It's hard to imagine capturing some of this with motion capture equipment.

Sound, Music & Voiceovers: In addition to the brutal looking hits, the sound really brings them to life. It's definitely over the top, and it shouldn't be any other way. The voiceovers are also really comprehensive. EA got quite a few of the many celebs you'll see to do voiceover work for the game. And as you would expect with a game with hip-hop and rap stars taking up the cast, EA Trax has brought a pretty decent collection to the table, all of which works really well with gameplay.

Control & Camera: There isn't a whole lot to say about the spot on camera and controls. The camera moves quite fluidly to give a good angle and view of everything you need to see to win the fight. The controls don't have anything in the way of delay or frustration. They are very simple to learn and not incredibly difficult to master. And there isn't any need to remember hundreds of meticulous combos, which is most definitely a welcome change in fighting games.

Gameplay and Presentation: Each fight is an absolute spectacle to play. Counters to vicious bat swings are one of the many awesome moves you'll be able to perform. The character creation system is wonderful and provides many options to deck out your fighter's look and fighting skills. The story won't win Oscar's, but it's better than you would think, and not derivative in the least.

Def Jam is a visceral, incredible experience that warrants a sequel more than any other fighter on the market.

UFC fans will LOVE this!
If you're into MMA fighting, you'll realize this game is one of a kind. You get to use real Muay Thai techniques (clinch, knees, elbows, shin kicks, shield defense) and the only game I've seen with so many Jiu-Jitsu techniques (armbars, kneebars, guilliotine, RNC, triangle choke, kimura, etc.) You can create your fighter to combine different styles to make him well rounded as a striker and grappler. Absolutely above and beyond my expectations! If you're a UFC or PrideFC fan, you'll love this game.

Just plain fun
This is a really good game. The voice acting is great. The are a lot of fighting styles to learn to use. And where else can you set up a match to beat the mess out of an artist you just can't stand. The story line to this game is great as well as the sound track. This was an over all great game. The only reason I gave it a nine is because there was no on-line capability. I've had the game for like a year and me and my friends still enjoy playing against each other or a new challenger. And last but certainly not least the blazing moves are incredible. Oh and I'm forgetting the active environment. You can ram people heads into walls, get the crowd to help you with moves and pick up weapons in the area. This fame is definitly worth renting.

Take That, Snoop Dogg!
I liked the ability to make my fighter the way I wanted him to be. Though I could never find a voice to match his look.

This game is great. I like having the control over how my character looks and fights. I especially liked the ability to purchase upgrades in strength, health and other various things.

It can be a little difficult to new comers, but if you can make it through the game once, you'll find that the second time through will be a breeze. And, it's worth a second play through.

Good game!
