The adventures of boy wizard Harry Potter continue in "The Chamber of Secrets," the second part of J.K. Rowling's world-famous children's story cycle. While the game's look is inspired by the movie, it follows the book's storyline: in Harry's second year at Hogwarts he'll face new enemies, make new friends, learn new spells, and unlock more secrets behind Hogwarts' countless doors and chambers. Caught in an epic struggle between good and evil, Harry must use his ingenuity to save magic from the Dark Arts and use his gifts for good. The game builds upon each level as Harry improves his magic, learning spells like scourge and spongify. The game is inter-cut with animated sequences that add flow to the game and detail to the story.

very good game
This is one of thoes must own titles for the ps2.

graphics. pretty good graphics for being a 2002 harry potter game.

Gamplay/storyline. great gamplay, but the story line is not quite the same as the book/movie. but over all its pretty good.

This game is worth buying or just renting. harry potter fan or not it is very addictive and really fun to play.

Decent Potter Game
It really is kind of hard to judge the game based on I played Sorcerer's Stone first, but this game was actually released before it..

Anyways, the game graphically of course isn't amazing but it isn't too bad fora 2002 game. I felt like it could have been much much better but overall it was ok. The gameplay itself feels much like Zelda, with the classes that you go through to get new spells. The controller's face buttons act as your spells, which makes it very easy to cast various multiple spells quickly.

The game goes very briefly over the main Harry Potter story so if your looking for a game that very quickly follows the story you won't find it here. I understand that the PS2 version is easier and contains less content than the other versions so I would try to get the Xbox or Gamecube version first.

Overall its a pretty decent game, it will only take you about 10 hours to beat from start to finish plus you can collect all of the 101 Wizard cards if you really want to.

very good but SHORT VERY SHORT
harry potter and the chamber of secerts is one of the best games. relesed in 2002 but dont buy. yes i gave it a 9 but dont buy it because it short. rent the game. because you'll finsh the game in around 3 hours without goffing. i also like all the classes but to make it longer the could have added potions and herbolagy. plus the could have added flying the car like in the PS1 the could have added the small thing in the PS1. game when you had run Ron to hagrids hut and also added the dueling club part and the valtines day thing in lockhearts office. the PS1 game had a lot more jumping and also most inportently they could have added those book case scert passage ways. i mean in the PS1 you could use those passage ways through the bookcases for hours finding stuff. and a another part that gets me mad is when you get alohhmora it only opens chests not doors.

Not the worst game ever made
I'm a massive Harry Potter Fan. I read the last book about a 5 times, and have gone through the whole series a few times. I've payed very close attention to deleted scenes on the movies to try to find some clue that they were trying to be more accurate. So, I have to say, being a serious fan of these books helps you enjoy this game, though some unneeded changes also hinder it for those very same reasons.

Speaking purely from a gaming standpoint, this is par for the course with about everything EA makes outside of sports games... There are camera issues (lots of seethrough walls that should have disappeared the previous generation) and a couple control issues, but overall this is actually a solid platformer... Except, of course, for the lack of jumping, but you don't notice it too much. It's not quite sandbox, but the freedom you're given does take the sting away from the very simplistic tasks you have to perform.

There are many annoying things in the this game. The charge system on the spells is annoying at best, since you don't start the game with it, and the bosses are hit and miss. Probably the worst portions of the game are when you have to sneak around at night. Harry potter is neither Solid Snake nor Sam Fischer.

I would only really suggest this game to the hardest core Harry Potter fans, and even then they'll be upset with changes that really are unnecessary. If you just want to explore hogwarts as it is in the movies, I'd suggest the order of the phoenix, since the EA team had more freedom with the layout in that game and it's more accurate to both the films and the books by that time.

go icus away icus this game icus.
TERRIBLE game. graphics are terrible, not enough interactivity with people or objects, not enough spells and the ones that you do get are lame and ineffective and weak, the conversations other characters have with each other is absolutely dimwitted and unusable and you never get enough money to buy important or fun things, the sound was acceptable not great but ok,overall horrible game proceed with the harry potter chamber of secrets book to complete the feel of boredom and stupidity.

This game makes you MAD!!
This game had a lot of potential...but the way it was put together is horrible. Every time you open a door in the castle a load screen appears. Seriously, sometimes I think I was staring at "loading..." more than I was playing this game. Also, there's gotta be like 10 boss fights. Cool right? One problem: the bosses are so repetetive that the only difference between one and the next was their apperance. Also, there are various parts in the game where you must sneak around Hogwarts in order to accomplish a task. Another problem: you don't get an invisibility cloak, and Harry Potter isn't the sneakiest of 'em all. Basically, you get caught and sent back to the area you came about 10 times until you figure out a strategy to get by the freaking guards(prefects)! When I rented this game, I expected it to be interesting and exciting, but I ended up with a horrible attempt at replicating the Hogwarts universe. Unless your an avid Harry Potter fan this isn't even worth a rent. Trust me.
